Keeping Craigieburn on the move

Craigieburn Local Area Traffic Management Plans

As part of Hume City Council’s ongoing commitment to Local Area Traffic Management (LATM), Council was undertaking a study of traffic issues within the Craigieburn East and West areas.

Between December 2018 and February 2019, Council sought community input into the LATM study via an online mapping tool to identify areas for consideration or improvement. Approximately 100 areas/ issues were identified by residents, plus further feedback and input received via Council’s social media.

In addition to community input, the study considered:

  • Traffic speeds and volumes
  • Casualty crashes
  • Pedestrian and cycling connectivity
  • Parking issues.

After considering this information, Council proposed to install a number of traffic treatments. These proposals were preliminary.  Before Council made any decision on the treatments, Council sought feedback from the community through an online survey.

The traffic management plan was reviewed following resident feedback and additional investigations were conducted in order to develop the Traffic Management Plans.

Council at its meeting on Monday, 12 August 2019, adopted the Craigieburn West and Craigieburn East LATM study reports and associated traffic management plans. The traffic management plans can be viewed by clicking links:
