Our swimming programs:

Learn to Swim

The Royal Life Saving Society's Swim and Survive Program provides a broad, balanced program of swimming, water safety and survival skills. The program prepares children of all abilities for a lifetime of safe activity in, on or near the water. The program is made up of three smaller programs for different age categories, as outlined below.

Wonder (Infant Program)

Wonder is the water familiarisation component of the Swim and Survive program, designed specifically for children aged 6 to 36 months.

The Wonder classes are taught with parent or carer and child together in the water. Parents are an integral part of their child's aquatic education by providing guidance and support through activities and songs that provide for the development of water familiarisation, exploration and water safety skills.

It is a great chance to enhance the bond between parent and child in a fun and relaxing environment.

Wonder has three awards that are arranged by age groups, these classes are conducted in the warm water pool at 33 degrees.

Courage (Pre-school program)

Courage is the water confidence component of the Swim and Survive program, and is designed for children aged 3 and 5 years.

The Courage classes are fundamental to the development of basic foundation skills in swimming, survival and water safety. We guide children through fun and safe activities, gradually building upon their breathing, floating and movement skills; supporting and encouraging independence.

Courage has five awards for children to progress through as they build confidence and develop new skills.

Maximum of four children per class.

Active (School-age Program)

Active is the Swimming and Water Safety component of the Swim and Survive program, and is designed for children aged 5 - 14 years.

The Active classes emphasise that the skills learnt in the program not only save lives, but provide a foundation for participation in a range of aquatic recreation, fitness and sporting activities.  These classes work on stroke technique as well as water safety, survival and basic rescue skills.
