Providing information for our business community

Hume City Council is committed to supporting local businesses during this time and will continue to keep you updated on relevant and important information following advice from the Victorian Government and Federal Government regarding the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

We understand this is a difficult time for many and hope that by providing you with relevant and useful information it will assist in keeping you focused and inspired.

There is a wide range of information, resources and tools available to assist and navigate you through the current challenges. Information and advice changes daily, so we encourage you to continually check this webpage for updates and subscribe to our eNewsletter.

Supporting our local businesses

Hume's local businesses have been responding quickly to the changing demand from offering alternative methods of pick-up and delivery, exploring online options, increased hygiene measures and working with their staff and customers following advice surrounding social distancing.

To support Hume businesses, we've started a list of local businesses doing new things or altering their way of working to ensure they can continue delivering and providing for our community. If you are a business in Hume City that’s being innovative through these challenging times, add your details to our Hume Business Directory or alternatively get in touch with us today at business@hume.vic.gov.au or message us on Instagram @DiscoverHume.

You can also support local businesses by shopping locally

Council has announced additional support for businesses:

  • Waiving food act registrations in 2020/21
  • Waiving all outdoor dining area permit fees and licence fees for 2020/21
  • Providing rent relief for tenants occupying Council facilities for up to six months on a case by case basis where the tenant can demonstrate that their business has been adversely impacted by COVID-19
