Job blitz for Hume

Hume City Council will offer 164 jobs to locals that are currently out of work under a new Victorian Government initiative.

Mayor of Hume City, Councillor Carly Moore said the Victorian Government’s Working for Victoria fund will provide 6-month employment opportunities to those who need it most.

“Many locals have been impacted by COVID-19 and now find themselves in financial hardship,” Cr Moore said.

“As we navigate our way through COVID-19, it has never been more important to support our community to secure employment. By providing a quick return to work for locals here at Council, we can help them get back on their feet.

“We are pleased that we were successful in applying for the fund and are looking forward to welcoming our 164 new employees who will provide critical services across Hume City in response to COVID-19,”

The new jobs will focus on providing important services in the following areas:

•           community cleaning services

•           gardening

•           conservation and land management

•           assisting in digitising Council records

•           communications and community support

•           supervisory and asset management.

“If you are looking for a job, we want to hear from you.”
